Pours a lovely clear orange with two fingers of persistent, barely off-white head. Smells of caramel malt, toasty biscuit, orange, flowers, and a hint of spice. The taste is big caramel malt, a distinctly toasty biscuit undercurrent, and gently bittering floral hops. The flavour lingers on and on, coating the palate and tickling the taste buds for minutes after a swig. The mouthfeel is well balanced, very drinkable, refreshing, smooth, lovely. Overall a superb pale ale.
Brewed with well water (the original well at the Old Brewery, sunk in 1758, is still in use, with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground); best barley malt, yeast and aromatic hops; fermented in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ to create a full, rounded flavour and after-taste.

Best served at about 51°F (11°C).

Ingredients • Water, malted barley, yeast, hops.
